I realise this is incredibly late in the day, but I was looking on Wikipedia about the US comics line, and the major differences in the UK comics series. It amazes me that so much of what I consider(ed) to be true continuity was only happening in one and not the other (I stopped following too closely around UK #70 (US # 19)).

Also been looking on eBay at the covers of many UK covers after that time, and the artwork varies from awesome to bizarre, and there's a lot of "more questions than answers" going on (though obviously the covers are meant to entice you to buy and find out the answers). Galvatron, Megatron and Optimus Prime seem strangely enduring and presumably popular enough to aim at casual readers.

I did vaguely notice stuff like Beast Wars and other variants, but as a stick-in-the-mud, only the comics appealed to me (and I didn't keep up with them regularly (after Dr Who Magazine and Secret Wars, there wasn't any more money)).

I just wanted to get this off my chest smiley: nerd

I have been asked to make clear that I am in no way connected to Sunset Island Productions, aka sidesk.com :I am happy to do so.
